Malcolm E. Barnes d. 1984
M. E. Barnes joined the Club in 1958 after many years of guided ascents in the Alps, and extensive mountain walking and skiing from Britain to the Alps, Tatras, Corsica and Norway. He was probably best known, however, for his editorship of the English edition of The Mountain World from 1953 onwards, for translation of a number of mountaineering books, and for his Alpine photography.
He was a member of the Swiss Alpine Club (Diablerets section) and the Ski Club of Great Britain.
